The Canada- Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) has provided an opportunity for public input, specific to the areas included in Call for Bids NS16-1, through the submission of written comments. The deadline for the submission of public written comments was 4:00 p.m. Atlantic Time, July 4, 2016. In order to be given appropriate time for proper consideration by the CNSOPB and potential bidders, comments were required by this date. Any comments that were received by the deadline have been made publicly available here. The CNSOPB will review submissions, prior to considering the issuance of exploration licences.

It should be noted that a Call for Bids and the issuance of an exploration licence is not an indicator that an application for activity has been submitted, and it does not guarantee an authorization to work in the offshore area. Project-specific Environmental Assessments must be completed for any proposed activities as part of an application to undertake work in the offshore area, and mitigation may be required. In addition, potential Operators must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the CNSOPB that they can operate safely and work proactively to prevent incidents.
